It's enough for Nigeria to cry!

For decades, my mother has been living in monotonous and unambitious existence. Many efforts have been made to free her from old age calamities that abort certain amendments made by her  sons. Accidentally, some were killed, jailed and many others poisoned. Whenever I remember her situations, my eyes usually turn red, my cord reacts and passes the message to the veins responsible for supplying tears into my eyes. Indeed, this is heart touching!

History will never forget the wonderful effort made by one of her husbands to set her free from both external and internal predicaments in 1960s, but Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was killed and toppled by Agonyi Ironsi in an attempt to set a room for military rule.
A lot has been said about Tafawa's ministers' corrupt activities, but the judgment was made impossible. This came into being in January 1966.

Similarly, within seven months, Gowon faced another calamity willing to cause the soul of my blessed fatherland, overthrew the government and came into power. The condition became worse during Gowon, his military governors and defense minister were acting like those established to inflame Boko Haram.  This and many more forced General Murtala and Obasanjo to topple his government through a coup d'etat in July 1976. What a president in the history of Nigeria!

Murtala was the first to declare his assets and ask the entire government officials to effectively declare their's. This is what has been trending on our news media, due to Saraki's failure to objectively declare his assets and has made the court intervention possible. Remember however, Murtala took corrupt persons to prison to wait for legal proceedings. Suddenly, he was brutally killed as a result of international conspiracy. But when Obasanjo  took over, he released those in prison and appointed them certain governmental positions in 1976.

Despite the corrupt activities of his government, Obasanjo peacefully transferred power to elected civilian government of Shehu Shagari, and happened to be the second republic in 1979. Shagari's government was also accused with high inflammatory actions that yield corruption in Nigeria. And this resulted in another coup d'etat by General Muhammadu Buhari in 1983. Many government officials were tried and convicted. The government recovered numerous wealth, fought against corruption and indiscipline. This was the era where numerous rich people turned to poor and his government was accused of violation of human right.

Similarly, Babangida overthrew his government through a bloodless palace coup, jailed him and made clear for corrupt government Nigeria ever had. From there, corruption left a die-hard seeds in the hearts of Nigerian leaders and slowly moved from one government to another ranging from IBB, Shonekan, Abacha, Abdulsalam, Obasanjo, Yar'adua, Jonathan and the current government of President Muhammad Buhari.
