Awara, also known as Tofu is a common street snack which is natural, inexpensive and nourishing. It is very popular in Northern Nigeria and can be found everywhere on the street.

Awara is made by curdling soy milk bso that its proteins become coagulated and then pressed into a sliceable cake. Most people consume Awara because it is enjoyable and not knowing that it has a lot of health benefits.

Awara is a good source of protein, iron, calcium, amino acids, copper, zinc and phosphorus. It is naturally rich in isoflavones which is good for women in the sense that it helps promote menopausal comfort and is actually helpful to keep women from suffering osteoporosis at a later age.

It also aid in reducing discomfort during menopause. The intake of Awara has positive effects when it comes to regulating cell growth and this growth count is pertinent to protecting someone against various types of cancer like chest cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer and skin cancer.

This natural food prevents the loss of bone tissues, keeps the bones strong and resistant to mineral loss.

It is therefore advisable that you increase your awara intake and anything gotten from soya beans.
