Every business requires a special skill and training for a start.In Nigeria, many businesses have failed because the entrepreneurs refused to follow a necessary step before starting the business. Like any other business, poultry commercial farming requires special skills before you venture into it. Many times people use to invest huge capital into it and later regret, all these happen because they refuse to follow the necessary steps. The following are some of the things to do.
1. Draw out your business plan because it will serve as a blueprint or road map guiding you to the business.
4. Build your accommodation, do not spend huge money on building the cage because you will spend many years before you return back your invested money and start getting profit. Use local material for bulding, cage net, wood, and other needed materials.
3. Select a type of farming you want do, this can be layer breeding for egg production or broiler breeding for meat production.
5. Ask other people that have been in the business on which company is the best, and then be careful not to ask everybody because he might tell you wrong so that he will win you in the competion.
6. Always consult veterinary doctors for proper advise.
7. Poultry are very sensitive in diseases infection, you should be very careful with them,do not allow everybody to enter your farm and if it is necessary for him to enter let him change his complete dressing or shoes before he enters.
8. Finally, always be careful with their vaccinations because it will make them heathier. Some of the vaccinations that are necessary are: lasotta, Gumboro, and many other injections.
