Academic activities have been shut down in several government-owned universities across Nigeria. This is following the resolution from the meeting held by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Sunday 13 August, 2017.

According to the 200 level students of Political Science & International Studies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria who were supposed to sit for FRNC 202 this morning, the head of their department, Dr. Aliyu Yahya, asked them to relax till further notice.
Dr. Aliyu acted based on the directives from ASUU, ABU branch just as the branch chairperson obeyed the National Executive Council.
