As blacks we have gone through a level of hardship, struggle, starvation and slavery. The whites believed that we could not lead ourselves and even dared to consider themselves better than their fellow human with a black color and superior to us. They did not understand the strength of our culture and lifestyle. They felt they needed to influence the way of our lives and yes, they succeeded a great deal because we now speak their language, use their technology and even dress like them. But we should not for get our origin. We are blacks, we believe in unity, we believe in strength in ourselves. We have strength in our family, our culture and our way of life.
We are blacks, we are beautiful and rich. And we are no longer slaves. Many a times we tend not to see that. There is wealth in our lands but we take interest in envying the whites. We want to be like them. Many of our ladies even bleach their skin just to look like the white woman. Why do we put so much pressure in becoming like those people who did not see the value of other humans because they are black and considered them slaves? We were treated with the lowest manner, with contempt and even considered as animals. What level of racism among humans?
We need to see the beauty in ourselves and embrace the love of ourselves, the culture and tradition of our land. Yes due to the colonization of our land by the white people, we have adopted their culture but do not forget your heritage as a black man. We went through the trying times; the pain, the struggle and we conquered and came out strong. We got our independence and have been able to stand together. Let us see ourselves as victors, as people who fought in a battled and conquered and brought home the Cup. Let us believe in ourselves for the sake of our great Fathers like Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah and others who fought for the freedom of the black.
Africa is blessed with nature and precious resources like gold and precious stones. We are a wealthy people, let us work together and develop ourselves and our land.
I AM PROUD TO BE BLACK.
