In the history of men, many people are HEROES that deserve to be celebrated for they lived a life worthy of extolling and emulating. A great man often referred to as “POWER OF THE POWERS” by his colleagues lived a very stupendous life. His lifespan was between 1909-1965 and within this range of 55 years he achieved a lot and died as a very respectable man that Nigerians need not forget.

Born in to a royal family in the village of Ribadu, old Adamawa province,  he was the son of Ardo(district head) of Balala that is Ardo Balala. He attended Yola Middle School, received private tutorship under a colonial officer and afterwards became a teacher.   He accomplished a lot from 1925-1951 where he became the Ardo after his father’s demise, went abroad on scholarship to study Local Government and was appointed after his return as member of the Northern House of Assembly in 1947 and was re-elected in 1951.

In 1948, this grandeur served in the Hugh Foot committee of the Nigerianisation of senior posts in the civil service, a year later, he was a member of the Nigerian Regional Development Loans Board where he all faired excellent. Going down the memory lane, he was able to detect the colonial masters who tried to outsmart Nigerians by laundering their resources through his intelligence and investigative might. For that, he installed his fear and power over them.

Our hero was not only good in politics, he was a man of the people who consider peoples problem first before his, a man with the free hand of giving. A man with both tough and soft heart who a thief dare not enter his house or a guilty person has the courage to look him in the eye.
This luminary personality was made minister for natural resources, elected the second vice president of NPC and became literary the third Northern Nigerian leader behind Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa. Also, he was federal minister of Land, Mines and Power in 1954, minister of Land and Lagos Affairs where he cleared the doubts of many people and showed them how tough he really was and in 1960 he was appointed the minister of Defence.
