The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are in deliberation to embark on a nationwide strike.

Since December 2013, the union has not embarked on any nationwide indefinite strike, and that made Nigerians happy. Apart from the one-week warning strike in November, 2016, it has been mere threatening.

The threat in March 2017 about their agreement with the federal government and that of last month concerning the abducted UNIMAID lecturers are about to be carried out.

Second semester examinations have just commenced at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Looking at the students' faces, one can see disappointment, frustration and suspense written thereon. Many of them have less than ten days to move to the next level, while some have almost the same time left to become graduates. They are eagerly waiting for the outcome of ASUU's referendum.

However, some students want a two-week warning strike to enable them read harder.
